Frequently asked questions

Why won't my wookwick stay lit?
Although woodwicks can be a great alternative to cotton wicks they are not the same.  Because these are wood they will have black soot that builds up on the wick in between use - it is important to remove this black soot before each use to get the best burn.  You can use your fingers, nail clippers or a wick trimmer to do this.

What are woodwicks?
Woodwicks are a natural alternative to cotton wicks that also have the additional bonus of having a "crackeling" sound.  They give off a sense of a small campfire and have a very smooth and relaxing burn.

Why soy?
Compared to a lot of other wax alternatives - soy wax is much healthier for us and our enviroment.  Soy wax is clean burning and also has a lower melting point than the typical paraffin wax which means that it will last longer than the avarage candle that you find in most stores.

What is candle "tunneling" & how can I prevent it?
Tunneling can occur when a candle is put out too quickly.  As you light your candle each time it will begin to form a melt pool circle around the wick.  You want to make sure that your melted wax pool has reached to the edges of your candle jar BEFORE you put out your candle EVERY TIME you use it. This will ensure that you are able to use your candle to it's full potential! it will last longer because of this.

How much burn time will I get from my candle?

Not all candles are the same. There are a lot of contributing factors when it comes to your burn time - is it tunneling?, what type of fragrance is in it? (that will effect burn time), does this particular candle have a woodwick or a cotton wick? For our standard amber jar candles with woodwicks you should get about 35+ hrs of burn time, give or take.

Do you offer wholesale and can I sell these in my store?

Yes we offer wholsale prices. If you are interested in carrying us in your store or ordering a large bulk amount for other use you can contact us at emberandsea@gmail.com for more details.

TO THE RIGHT >
Here is an example of what COULD become tunneling if  this candle were to be put out at this stage. If the candle were put out at this particular burning stage it would continue to burn down as a  "tunnel" which would waste wax and decease overall burn time of the rest of the candle.

< TO THE LEFT
Here is an example of a candle that was able to burn perfectly to the outside edges of the candle jar. because of this the candle was able to use ALL of the wax in its top layer which allowed for its full potential of burning time in the long run.
